I have a goal to walk from New York to California to raise awareness about obesity, motivate others to move, and help the homeless.
I recently walked from Cape Coral, Florida all the way to Harpo Studios in Chicago where I met with Oprah Winfrey and had a taped interview with Bob Greene on the Oprah XM Radio Show. I have slimmed down from 216 pounds and a dress size of 22, to a size 16. En route, I handed out SUBWAY® Cash Cards, donated by family and friends, to people in need.
SUBWAY® franchisees from three states helped sponsor my walks and provided lunches and dinners and t-shirts along the route. Since then, I have been walking across a dozen states, eating SUBWAY® sandwiches and lending a hand to others along the way.
I am partnering with WalkingSpree.com so that you can join me me on my next step in this exciting walk from NYC to LA. I will be walking the route literally, but you can join me virtually by using your WalkingSpree USB pedometer and uploading your steps to the WalkingSpree website. Your progress will show up on the map along with my path and all the other participants walking with me. The best thing is we can form teams and support groups to help each other along the way. I have found WalkingSpree to be the perfect walking program to my commitment to lose weight. It offers the best computer connected pedometer, an online wellness program to track steps and food, a virtual map to help me with my walk and all the support from friends & family to cheer me on my walk to the White House.
Explore along the way with maps that let you zoom in to exactly what street you’re on. Switch to satellite view and you’ll be able to see the trees and trails in Central Park in New York City. Walking like this with me will seem so real, you’ll almost think you feel the breeze I do as I make this amazing walk.
